# Square root of perfect squares

A perfect square is the square of a whole number.

For example,
4 is a perfect square because 4=2x2=22
9 is a perfect square because 9=3x3=32
16 is a perfect square because 16=4x4=42

The square root of a perfect square is one of the two equal factors of the perfect square.

$\sqrt{25}=5$     because 5x5=25

$\sqrt{36}=6$     because 6x6=36
