Understandiing integers

Integers are positive and negative whole numbers, including zero. That is, the intergers are ...,-4, -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4,...

Integers to the left of
zero are less than zero.
They are negative.

Zero is neither negative nor positive.

Integers to the right of
zero are greater than zero.
They are positive.

Positive numbers
A positive number can be indicated by placing a plus sign (+) in front of the number. For example, we can write +3 instead of 3. Both +3 and 3 represent "positive 3". Usually, however, the plus sign is omitted and it is understood that the number is a positive number.
Negative numbers
A negative number is indicated by placing a negative sign (-) in front of the number. For example, the number -2 is read "negative two"
