Simplify 5x+(x-7)2

5x+(x-7)2 = 5x+2x-14
= 7x-14

Simplify 3(y-5)-(2y-7)

3(y-5)-(2y-7) = 3y-15-2y+7 Distributive property
= (3y-2y)+(-15+7) Group like terms
  = y-8
